Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Valley of Nightmares” by David Shield. Location: Ah Shi Sle Pah Wilderness Study Area, New Mexico.
“When I planned to visit and photograph this area commonly known as the Valley of Dreams, I had no idea that spending the night here would be more challenging than getting to this particular viewpoint,” says Shield. “Access to the trailhead is via a series of unmaintained roads, and once the trailhead is reached, there’s no actual trail into this wilderness area. Storm clouds quickly rushed over the Valley of Dreams during sunset, not only leaving this moody scene but also resulting in a fairly wet first part of the night and a camping experience that included not a single moment of sleep. At the end of it all, this was still one of my most memorable photography adventures.”
